I get a little suspicious when I go on Pinterest and find recipes that seem too easy to be true. For weeks, I've been seeing "7up Biscuits" pop up on the site, with each pinner raving about how easy they are to make and how good they taste.
How could they not be easy with only three main ingredients???? But, on the other hand, how could this be a legitimate recipe with only three main ingredients - including two that I don't usually think of in the biscuit world.
Tonight I decided to see if all these random folks raving about soda pop in biscuits could possibly be right. Frankly, I didn't expect to have good results but everything I needed was in the house and I seemed to have a float the baking dish with butter theme going on, so why not try my hand with the biscuits.
At least that recipe isn't as weird as some I find on Pinterest. I truly believe that there are jokesters who come on the site and deliberately post preposterous made-up recipes, just to see if we Pinteresters will take the bait and actually whip up a batch of Snicker Bar, Peanut Butter, Pineapple, Anchovie, Tofu Scones.
So, here's the deal: these biscuits may sound strange but they're everything everyone said they'd be. Some people term them a complete copy of Popeye's biscuits, from the chicken place, but I just term them easy and very, very good.
7up Biscuits
2 C Bisquick
1/2 C sour cream
1/2 C 7-up
1/4 C melted butter
Add sour cream into Bisquik and mix together, add 7 Up. The dough will be very soft. Sprinkle additional Bisquick onto the counter and gently pat the dough out to desired thickness (about 1 inch) Use the bottom of a glass or a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits. Place melted butter into 9 x 9 pan. Bake in a 450 oven until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.
(I modified the recipe directions a bit. All the versions I found on Pinterest said to pat your dough out, use a pizza cutter to cut it into squares, and then place the squares into the 9x9 pan. Next time, I'll do the round biscuits.)
What? Snicker Bar, Peanut Butter, Pineapple, Anchovie, Tofu Scones are Amanda and I's next scone for our July EmAndAm get-together. How can you not think that's a normal combination? We're excited.
ReplyDeleteJust don't forget the salmon, m&m, liver, licorice cream to go with those scones!
